Russia to China Seaborne Energy Flows Up 25% This Year

Russia increased seaborne shipments of hydrocarbons to China by 25% to 87 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2022 versus a year prior according to Deputy Transportation Minister Alexander Poshivay.

  • "Russia exported 70 million tonnes of hydrocarbons to China in the first nine months of 2021. In the first nine months of 2022, Russia shipped 87.5 million tonnes of energy resources via sea, which was 25% more than the same period last year," Poshivay said.
  • Most of the increase was attributed to oil shipments.
