Russian Foreign Ministry: Black Sea Grain Deal May End July 18

WHEAT

Reuters reporting that, "Russia believes July 18 will be the time to end the Black Sea grain deal," according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

  • The deal was extended until July 17 last month, despite criticism from Moscow that the deal didn't sufficiently address Russian concerns over their food and fertilizer exports.
  • According to Reuters, "Putin said [last] Tuesday that Moscow was considering withdrawing from the deal because it had been "cheated" by the West over promises to remove the barriers to Russia's own grain and fertiliser exports."
  • Speaker of the upper house of the Duma, Valentina Matviyenko, said: "It is impossible to update this deal, and under these conditions, I believe, it is also impossible to extend it because the limit of our patience and desire to implement it has been exhausted."
