Russian Fuel Oil Loadings Patterns Shift in July

OIL PRODUCTS

Russia’s residual fuel oil exports in July remained flat m/m at 800kbd, down almost 22% from the peak in March according to Vortexa but their loading pattern shifted.

  • Rising tension in the Black Sea after the collapse of the grain deal have slowed loadings there in favour of the Russian Baltic.
  • Russian Baltic residual fuel oil exports have risen almost 16% m/m this month (days 1- 23) matching the previous high seen in January. Russia Black Sea fuel oil loadings fell to a multi-year low of 165kbd.
  • These cargoes are taking ~11 days longer to East of Suez market – exacerbating HSFO market tightness.
