Russian LNG Exports 2.1% Higher y/y in H1 2024

Russia’s LNG exports rose 2.7% in H1 of 2024 to 16.79 million metric tons according to Kommersant but the outlet said volumes would likely slip in the coming months due to expected maintenance at Sakhalin 2.

  • Russia's LNG exports increased due to a 6.3% boost in supplies to Turkey and Europe - mainly to France - to 9.7 million tons, it said citing Kpler numbers.
  • Sakhalin 2 stopped LNG export June 20, likely due to maintenance.
  • Russian LNG exports fell by 3.7% year on year to 2.3 million tons in June, of which 1.44 million tons were shipped to Europe, 680,000 tons were exported to Asia and 220,000 tons were not nominated for destination.
