Russia’s Crude Processing Rate in August Year-to-Date High

Russia’s crude processing rate averaged 5.53m b/d during Aug. 1-14, sources told Bloomberg.

  • This is up over 102k b/d compared to the July average. If sustained throughout August, it would be the highest average monthly level since July 2023.
  • Russia’s refinery runs remain one of the key indicators for the industry’s trends, given that official output figures are now classified.
  • Russia is looking to boost its domestic production of products such as gasoline - currently under an export ban.
  • It has also pledged to squeeze its crude output and exports as part of its OPEC+ voluntary cuts.
