S. Korea Still Working To Retrieve Remains Of North's Space Rocket

NORTH KOREA

South Korea's Defence Minister Lee Jong-sup told parliament that the navy is still trying to recover a sunken part of a North Korean space rocket which was carrying a military reconnaissance satellite and the operation may take two more days.

  • South Korea initially identified the sunken part as the second stage of the rocket, while Lee told parliament that the authorities "are continuing to trace the third stage and the payload."

  • Analysts from 38North wrote that commercial satellite imagery captured renewed activity at Sohae Satellite Launching Station, which "could indicate another launch forthcoming."
