  • SA reduces restrictions – moving to adjusted level 3 on Sunday as Ramaphosa says the third wave may have peaked.
    • Alcohol sales re-opened on weekdays, movement between provinces allowed again and curfew moved an hour later to 10pm.
    • Ramaphosa also said that the vaccination rate would increase substantially in the coming weeks
  • Ramaphosa also reinstated the R350 social relief grant to run until end-March 2022 to support the recovery.
    • Also noted that businesses hit by looting, riots and covid restrictions would receive support for Govt including tax breaks
    • Economists warn however, that this will exacerbate debt:GDP metics, see the tax base shrink further and may even boost unemployment
