Scholz: Germany To Provide Air Defence Systems To Ukraine

• Chancellor Scholz...says "we will continue to support the Ukrainians for as long as is necessary, with all the options that we have put in place." However, Scholz once again falls short of stating that Ukraine must "win" the war, although he comes a bit closer to it than before. "Our goal is that Putin does not win. Our goal is for Ukraine to be able to defend itself and be successful in doing so," the Chancellor says.
• Scholz says further that Germany is preparing to send Gepard air defense tanks to Ukraine in July. [...] "This is a highly efficient, very heavy weapon," he continues, arguing that Ukraine had requested this tank from Germany
• This is significant: Scholz promises further weapons for Ukraine "in the coming weeks," among them IRIS-T air defense system. "It's most modern air defense system that Germany has. This will enable Ukraine to protect an entire city from Russian air raids," chancellor says.
• "We will also supply Ukraine with a state-of-the-art tracking radar that will detect enemy howitzers, mortars and rocket artillery," German chancellor says further.
