  • On escalating nuclear rhetoric, says that a nuclear war should never be fought, and that NATO will 'make sure there is no misunderstanding in Moscow about seriousness of using nuclear weapons.' Says that so far NATO has not seen changes in Russia's nuclear posture.
  • Says that Putin's speech was 'an escalation, but not a surprise'. Stoltenberg: NATO & allies have provided unprecedented support to Ukraine, but need to replenish stocks'. Says that allies are in 'close dialogue' with defence sector to boost production of weapons and ammunition.
  • Stoltenberg: 'Russian troops are ill-equipped, and lack proper command and control'.
