Secretary Of State Blinken To Deliver G20 Press Conference Shortly

14:20 ET 19:20 GMT: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is shortly due to hold a press conference following the conclusion of G20 foreign ministerial meetings in Brazil. LIVESTREAM

  • The presser will be Blinken's first public remarks since the Munich Security Conference last weekend and he will likely provide updates on the status of Israel-Hamas ceasefire negotiations and the Ukraine war where Russia has had major battlefield success this week.
  • On February 27-March 2, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will travel to Brazil for the corresponding G20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors.
  • According to the Treasury Department, “Yellen will further America’s leadership role within the multilateral system, which advances our national interests by expanding economic opportunities for the U.S. and our trading partners and fostering cooperation on global challenges.”
  • Secretary Yellen will also, “emphasize the importance of collective action to build on the economic progress we have made and bolster the global economy for the long-run – such as the work underway to evolve Multilateral Development Banks, strengthen the International Monetary Fund, tackle climate change, and address sovereign debt distress.”
  • Following her engagements in Brazil, Yellen will travel to Chile for meetings with government officials.
