Sen Min Ldr McConnell-Wish Mod House Dems Success On Separating Infra Bills

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) speaking on Fox News, says that he wishes moderate Democrats in the House success on separating the USD1trn bipartisan infrastructure bill from the USD3.5trn Biden administration 'American Families Plan', which the House Democratic leadership is trying to put through at the same time. Fox News' Chad Pergram tweets McConnell's comment:

  • McConnell: " I wish the moderates in the House success. They want to split the infrastructure bill away from this massive USD3.5 trillion dollar reckless tax and spending bill and deal with the two separately."
  • With the G7 leaders call on Afghanistan now underway, McConnell has also criticised the president's stance on the withdrawal from Afghanistan, saying the evacuation deadline should be extended: "The president needs to forget about the August 31st deadline. We need to send enough American personnel..to rescue our people. And by the way, there are more American soldiers there now than before the president made the decision to leave. Extend the deadline"
  • "I think it's a lot worse than in Saigon in 1975. There weren't terrorists in Vietnam threatening to attack us here on U.S. soil. This is dramatically worse than Saigon in 1975 because al Qaeda's on the way back"
