Shell Pernis Attempting Hycon Restart by Sep. 25

Shell is trying to restart its shutdown hydrocracking unit at Pernis by September 25 according to IIR reports of traders familiar with the matter.

  • WoodMac had reported yesterday that Shell was attempting to restart the unit Wed night. They had earlier in the week reported no other units were impacted yet.
  • The impacted unit is the 25,000 bpd De-Asphalted Oil (DAO) hydrocracker shut due to a leak.
  • It was reported on by emergency services at the start of the week.
  • Pernis has a total capacity of 400,000 bpd.
