STOCKS: Stocks are higher in Asia on Tuesday. Equity indices took a positive
lead from European and US stocks. In Japan the Nikkei 225 is 226 points higher
at 22,488, the index opened sharply higher, boosted by a weaker yen, USD/JPY
some 50 pips higher than the close of Asia yesterday at 112.55. All 11 sectors
are in the green on the Nikkei, gains led by Materials and Energy.
- In Australia the ASX 200 is around 19 points higher at 5965, the index is
buoyed by a stronger metals complex with iron ore up around 1.1%. The RBA
minutes set a cautious tone sounding dovish around inflation and wages. All
sectors are in the green on the ASX 200, gains led by Tech and Materials
companies.
- In China mainland shares are higher, the Shanghai Comp. is up 7.5 points at
3399 and in Hong Kong the Hang Seng is up 267 points at 29,532. Tencent are
driving the gains in Hong Kong up around 4% to a new all time high.
