Spot USD/IDR trades +28 figs at IDR14,425 as we type, with the rupiah among worst performers in the region. Gains past the 50-DMA at IDR14,433 would bring Aug 20 high of IDR14,473 into play, while downside focus falls on Aug 24 low of IDR14,384, followed by Aug 16/18 lows of IDR14,373.

  • USD/IDR 1-month NDF last seen +4 figs at IDR14,474. A break above the 50-DMA at IDR14,510 would shift focus to Aug 19 high of IDR14,573. Conversely, a fall through Aug 24 low of IDR14,418 would open up Aug 12 low of IDR14,383.
  • Several Indonesian politicians admitted receiving third doses of Covid-19 vaccines, sparking criticism as most Indonesians haven't received their first doses yet, while the Health Ministry recommended additional "booster" doses exclusively for health workers. Elsewhere, FinMin Indrawati said that the government may allow privately paid vaccination programmes if the virus becomes endemic and there is need for booster jabs.
  • Parliamentary hearings on 2022 state budget resume today, with Public Works & Housing Min Hadimuljono & Transport Min Sumadi set to attend. Separately, FinMin Indrawati will speak at Katadata's event on future economy.
