Summary - Copper Headwind for CLP, Colombia and Venezuela Holidays

CHILE - Nothing on the data docket in Chile this week which should leave price action to be determined by global factors. More intricately, any further appreciation of the BBDXY and falling copper prices will be monitored closely. Copper Futures declined on Friday and have extended losses into today, down 1.5%, which may act as a headwind for CLP in the short-term.


PERU - In Peru, the Monetary Policy Committee will meet on Thursday, Jan 14. Consensus expectations are for the MPC to keep the policy rate unchanged at 0.25% and maintain the forward guidance of stable rate for an extended period.

  • Separately, Peru President Francisco Sagasti said the country could return to a lockdown if infections reach levels of May or June 2020, but doesn't expect that to take place, according to an interview with El Comercio newspaper.

ARGENTINA - Argentine farm groups halt grain sales for three days to protest government suspending corn exports.


Colombia, Venezuela markets closed for national holidays.
