Support For Biden Craters Amongst Democrats

US

A new surveyfrom Gallup has found that President Biden’s approval rating amongst Democrats has dropped 11% in the last month - a huge cratering of approval which appears to have been prompted by Biden's response to the war between Israel and Hamas, which some Democrats believe has failed to advocate sufficiently for Palestinian civilians.

  • Gallup notes: “Biden has faced criticism from some members of his party for aligning too closely with Israel and not doing enough for the Palestinians. Some prominent Democratic lawmakers and protesters around the U.S. have called for Biden to do more to help the millions of Palestinians who are in need of humanitarian aid…”
  • Axios reports: “Biden is at risk of alienating members of his own party with his unequivocal support for Israel…” Noting that, “An annual Gallup poll conducted in February found that Democrats sympathized more with Palestinians than Israelis for the first time in the survey's two-decade history.”
  • The polling data which be of concern for the White House and may compel Biden to consider making a public call for a ceasefire. A move which he has so far avoided, instead choosing to endorse Israel's right to defend itself however it sees fit and advocating for more limited "humanitarian pauses."
