US TSYS
US TSYS: T-Notes unchanged at 139-20 after a light uptick on Thursday, although
the contact stuck to familiar ranges, as 10s failed to test the recent range
lows in cash trade.
- The broader space was generally bid on Thursday, with a surprise uptick in
initial jobless claims and continued worry/developments surrounding Sino-U.S.
tensions evident. Elsewhere, Wall St. struggled with a focus on antitrust probes
against the tech giants, and various headwinds for Apple (surrounding both
regulatory and product matters). This allowed the curve to bull flatten on the
day.
- Elsewhere, former NY Fed President Dudley suggested that the Fed could move to
extend the duration of its Treasury holdings, adding further fuel to the fire.
- Focus in Asia Pac hours is set to fall on the potential for China to announce
the closure of a U.S. consulate somewhere on Chinese soil, whether that be on
the mainland, or in Hong Kong /Macau (see earlier bullet for further details).
