Talk Of Stabilisation In ORDLO, Russian Media Reiterate Accusations Against Ukraine

Some social media accounts report that the situation in Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics appears to have calmed down, albeit more in the Twitter sphere are picking up earlier reports on brief connecivity disruptions. Meanwhile, Russian state media continue to circulate reports accusing Ukraine of escalating tensions (these need to be taken with a big pinch of salt):

  • Izvestia published an op-ed noting that "Ukrainian reconnaissance groups under cover of snipers are actively operating along the entire line of demarcation in the Donbas," citing contacts close to the commanders of self-proclaimed "people's republics." The newspaper's sources accused Ukrainian forces of "preparing for a large-scale military operation" despite the alleged oartial pullback of Russian forces from the border (repeatedly denied by the West).
  • RIA Novosti reported that Ukrainian troops continued to fire on the territory of Luhansk People's Republic Thursday evening, purposefully violating ceasefire agreements. The news agency spoke with representatives of LPR and DLR, who accused Kyiv of using prohibited weapons.
