Temporary Ban on Ukrainian Agriculture Imports Upheld; EURHUF Pierces 380.00

  • EURHUF has traded higher again today, piercing the 380.00 handle in the process as the forint continues to face pressure following dovish comments from NBH Deputy Governor Virag yesterday. Note the 20-day EMA has been pierced, signaling scope for a move higher to 382.09, where the 50-day EMA crosses today.
  • Hungary can maintain measures related to an import ban on Ukrainian farm products, Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy said after talks with European Commission officials on Wednesday, as per MTI. Hungary will continue to ensure the transit of Ukrainian grain through the country, but deliveries will be tracked until they cross the border, he added. Talks are underway on products that could be included in the import ban in addition to wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower, he said.
