JAPAN: The latest round of weekly Japanese security flow data revealed a second
solid week of net foreign bond purchases from Japanese investors, pushing the
4-week rolling sum of the measure higher for a second consecutive week.
- Japanese investors remained small net sellers of foreign stocks, with the
4-week rolling sum of the measure reverting to near neutral.
- Net foreign buying of Japanese bonds eased in the most recent week, although
the 4-week rolling sum of the measure jumped into positive territory (nearly
reaching Y2tn) after spending four weeks in negative territory. The swing took
place as a large week of net selling fell out of the sample.
- Foreigners remained net sellers of Japanese stocks, although the 4-week
rolling sum of the measure managed to edge into positive territory, at the
margin.
