JAPAN: The latest round of weekly Japanese international security flow data saw
Japanese investors record net purchases of foreign bonds for a third straight
week, with net purchases now lodged in 11 of the 12 most recent weeks. Could
they have been lured by the sell-off in BTPs, with the latest round of Italian
political uncertainty providing an opportunity? If so, they may have been one of
the major helping hands in pushing 10-Year BTP yields to a fresh cycle low after
the blip higher.
- Japanese investors became net sellers of foreign equities for the first week
in 4.
- Foreigners lodged small net selling of Japanese bonds, recording the first
round of net weekly selling since mid-June in the process.
- Foreign investors also recorded a third straight week of net selling in
Japanese equities.
- There was little to note in terms of the 4-week rolling sums across the 4
measures.
