CHINA PRESS: The People's Bank of China conducted special inspections of the
interbank accounts of around 2,600 banks from September through January, the
Financial News, a journal run by the PBOC, reported Wednesday. The results of
the inspections showed that some banks had violated regulations and carried out
illegal transactions, the report said. The PBOC gave a June deadline for the
relevant banks to rectify problems with their interbank accounts, the report
added, without saying how many banks had complied.
