FOREX: The risk-off impulse from NY hours, generated by U.S. Pres Trump's
announcement that he will hold a presser about China today, has carried over
into the Asia-Pac session. Meanwhile, month-end flows are in focus today and we
have seen a round of modest risk-off moves over the Tokyo fix, with JPY taking
the lead in the G10 basket. USD/JPY has already penetrated yesterday's lows and
remains heavy. Commodity FX are lower, with NZD leading losses. AUD/NZD may have
drawn some support from completing a "golden cross" formation.
- Final French & Italian GDPs, German retail sales, Norwegian unemployment and
Swedish GDP are due today, while Fed's Powell, ECB's Visco and Riksbank's Ingves
headline the central bank speaker slate.
