GILT AUCTION PREVIEW
GILT AUCTION PREVIEW: The UK DMO will come to market on Tuesday for Stg1.1bln.
On offer is the 0.125% Index-linked Oct-28 Gilt.
- HISTORY: The result of the last auction of the above bond is listed below:
Oct-28 I/L Gilt: average yield -1.716%, cover 2.19x, on 23/10/18.
- BACKGROUND: Theresa May has moved back a meaningful vote on her Brexit deal
from Feb 27 to Mar 12, increasing the likelihood of an extension to Article 50.
A new plan from some Tory MPs suggests ministers postpone Brexit until 23 May
"to conclude negotiations", whilst there have been reports that the EU would
prefer a 21-month extension.
Gilts sold off across the curve on Monday morning: an extension is seen to
decrease the likelihood of a no-deal Brexit.
The Oct-28 Guilt linker currently trades at -2.018%, up 3.8bps on Friday's
close.
January data for UK Finance Mortgage Approvals is due at 0930GMT prior to the
auction.
- TIMING: Results are due shortly after the auction closes at 1030GMT.
