BOND SUMMARY: There is a whiff of risk off in markets today with equities lower,
core fixed income generally a bit higher and peripheral spreads a bit wider on
the day (with the exception of BTPs).
- The risk-off sentiment has been fuelled by reports that the US are forcing the
closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston with the Chinese responding by
burning papers and documents before leaving. There seems to be few details on
why exactly the consulate has closed.
- It's a quiet day for data today with the highlight an event with Christine
Lagarde regarding the Path
Forward for the Global Economy in an event organised by the Washington Post.
- TY1 futures are up 0-3 today at 139-19+ with 10y UST yields down -1.1bp at
0.591% and 2y yields unch at 0.142%.
- Bund futures are up 0.23 today at 176.60 with 10y Bund yields down -1.5bp at
-0.477% and Schatz yields down -1.0bp at -0.687%.
- Gilt futures are up 0.10 today at 138.11 with 10y yields down -0.5bp at 0.129%
and 2y yields up 0.2bp at -0.111%.
