TIIE Swaps Bull Steepen Following Banxico Minutes, Curve Steeper W/W

  • TIIE swap rates traded choppily in yesterday's session as markets parsed the Banxico minutes and hawkish comments from Bullard and Kaplan wrong-footed markets somewhat ahead of Powell's JH speech today.
  • 2Y Swaps ended -6bp, while the 10Y tenor flipped from early strength to weakness – closing +3bp higher on the day.
  • W/w the curve trades +2-6bp bear steeper with weakness concentrated in 10 & 30Y tenors.
  • Additionally, Mexico's 5Y CDS has rallied in line with other EMs this week, falling -3.8bp, just short of the 90 handle.
