DOLLAR-YEN: Traders reported of continued light volumes overnight as the pair
held a narrow Y112.53-67 range. Investors remain cautious ahead of today's
expected US tax vote and will provide the main event risk of the day. Exporter
supply is reported to cap ahead of Y112.90 (Y112.89 - 50% Y113.75-112.03).
Support at Y112.53/31 (Asia low, Dec18 low). Usd/Jpy last Y112.54.
* The US calendar kicks off at 1330GMT with the release of Housing Starts. The
seasonally adjusted pace of housing starts is expected to slow to a 1.250
million annual rate in November after a sharp increase in October. The NAHB
index rose further in November, a positive for the housing starts data. Also at
1330GMT is US Current Account Balance data.
* US Redbook Retail Sales Index will hit the wires at 1355GMT
* Rounding off the day at 1810GMT Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President
Neel Kashkari is to participate in moderated Q&A at Lambda Alpha International -
Minnesota Chapter in Roseville, Minnesota, with audience Q&A.
