Trafigura Sign Long Term LNG Deal with Canada’s Tourmaline

Global commodities group Trafigura has signed a long-term LNG agreement with Canada’s largest natural gas produce Tourmaline.

  • Trafigura will buy 62,500 mmbtu/d of LNG (~0.5mpta) based on JKM prices from Tourmaline for seven years starting January 2027, with the potential for extension up to December 2039.
  • Trafigura will also buy 50,000 mmbtu/d of natural gas at AB-NIT based on TTF pricing from March 2024 to December 2026.
  • “Today’s agreements support our commitment to these markets and to the growth of our long-term portfolios,” said Richard Holtum at Trafigura.
  • “Canadian gas producers are starting to play a pivotal role in global LNG markets.”
