Treasury Sec Yellen To Lead US Delegation At EM Finance Summit Tomorrow

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will lead the US delegation at the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact in Paris, France tomorrow.

  • According to the Treasury Department, Yellen will, “further partnerships with emerging and developing economies to strengthen the world economy and address shared challenges…”
  • “…Yellen will work to promote actions and policies that strengthen macroeconomic stability, including by addressing the debt challenges facing many emerging and developing economies.”
  • Yellen will kick off the summit with a presser at 02:00 ET 07:00 BST, to outline US work to “evolve” multilateral development banks, address debt vulnerability, and strengthen the global economy.
  • Later in the day, Yellen will hold a bilateral meeting with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire and participate in a roundtable on Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Evolution, meet with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and join French President Emmanuel Macron for a State Dinner.
  • Euractive reports, “While the summit will not result in any formal international agreement, it is expected to ‘reconcile the way different financial actors’ work together, Claire Eschalier, senior project manager at I4CE, [said].”
