• Trump was criticised by some Republicans for failing to land hits on Vice President Kamala Harris during his presser at Mar-a-Lago last week. Trump may change his strategy today to include a more explicit attempt to link Biden’s economic policies with Harris and warn that her record betrays a more liberal politician than the moderate positions being pushed by her campaign.
• Yesterday, Trump appeared at an event in Asheville, North Carolina where he made several newsy comments, including signalling openness to significantly expanding his proposed tariff plans and pledging to cut energy costs in half within 18 months of a new term.
• On Tariffs, the Washington Post notes: “Previously, [Trump] had called for levying tariffs of 10 percent on all U.S. trading partners, aiming to create a “ring around the collar” of the national economy. But [yesterday] for the first time floated tariffs of between “10 and 20 percent” on imports to the United States.”
