TTF Reverses After Earlier Ukraine Gas Transit Cut Support

Front month TTF rose earlier as headlines emerged on gas flows via a key Ukrainian gas transit point into Slovakia halving. Prices have since reversed as European gas storage remains high for the time of year.

  • Austria and Slovakia are the main remaining importers of Russian pipeline gas in Europe and prices have proved responsive to any apparent disruptions.
  • Heatwaves across Europe and low wind generation in regions like Germany are adding power demand support at present.
  • Gazprom said in its daily update that gas transit via Ukraine is set for 42.4 mcm/day, the usual level. Nominations for Thursday are also normal.
