Turkish Foreign Minister to Visit Moscow Tomorrow

  • Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will pay a two-day visit to Moscow on Aug 31 to hold talks with his counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the resumption of the grain deal, as well as bilateral matters and regional developments, Hurriyet report.
  • The visit was also confirmed by a Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman at a press conference today in Moscow. She informed that talks will cover the international agenda, especially the developments in Ukraine, Syria and Libya. The two ministers will also talk about energy cooperation and the content of the upcoming meeting between President Erdogan and Russian President Putin.
  • Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday that Moscow will also soon make an official announcement about exactly when President Erdogan will visit Russia. Bloomberg, citing officials, said Erdogan may visit for talks on September 08 whereas a diplomat in Turkey told TASS that the planned meeting may take place on September 04.
