Turkish Gas Hub Likely to Face Delays After Earthquake

The recent earthquake in Turkey may postpone the establishment of a gas hub in the country according to the Kremlin.

  • "Of course, it [the gas hub project] cannot be a priority for Turkey right now. We treat it with understanding. Consequently, there may be some postponement," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
  • "Therefore, yes, this project [gas hub] may be postponed a little, but, it will not impact the implementation of the plans," he added.
  • Putin and Erdogan have publicly stated their intent to create a gas hub in Turkey, with the aim of transporting Russian gas into global markets.
  • European nations have voiced their reluctance to accept Russian gas from Turkey, citing concerns over developing infrastructure with an unreliable energy partner.
