  • Times reports that the delay in announcing anything today means that Covid curbs are "highly unlikely to be implemented before Christmas". This is because it takes 48 hours to recall Parliament, carry out vote and implement restrictions, by which time most people will have already travelled for Christmas.
  • Instead, the more likely scenario is a two-week circuit breaker after Christmas, starting on the 28th.
