UAE Open To Oil Production Increase

CNN's Eoin McSweeney in Abu Dhabi has reported that the 'UAE Ambassador to Washington, Yousef Al Otaibi says they are in favor of an oil production increase and will be encouraging OPEC to consider higher output.'

  • OPEC+ plus has consistently resisted calls to hike production but the US is planning to exert more pressure on Saudi Arabi to ramp-up production. Pressure may include a Biden visit to the Kingdom, although the proposed visit has received blowback domestically.
  • The UAE and Saudi Arabia are the only two OPEC states considered to have the capacity to increase production.
