Ueda Confirmation Hearing On Deck

JGBS

Marginally softer than expected domestic CPI data (0.1ppt misses vs. the BBG surveys across the 3 major Y/Y metrics) will do little to calm investors, with the metrics still moving to fresh cycle highs and focus on the impending initial confirmation hearing for PM Kishida’s nominee to succeed outgoing BoJ Governor Kuroda, Kazuo Ueda, set to get underway shortly (09:30 Tokyo/00:30 London). The initial hearings for the two BoJ Deputy Governor roles will take place this afternoon, with government nominees Uchida & Himino set to appear then.
