Ukraine Continues Emergency Power Imports

POWER

Ukraine will import 19.5GWh of electricity on Monday, up from 13.16GWh on Sunday and from 20.41GWh on Saturday, while restrictions on consumption continued, the energy ministry said.

  • Imports previously reached a record of 21.07GWh
  • The ministry said on Sunday it had not imposed restrictions for all types of consumers. On Monday, power outages are planned for industrial and domestic consumers in all regions from 18:00 local time until midnight.
  • There were no blackouts for domestic consumers on Saturday and on Sunday, only the regions of Poltava and Kharkiv oblasts were affected.
  • However, weather conditions are expected to be more favourable this week with temperatures likely to rise which could limit outages and weigh on the amount of power imports needed, UKrenergo’s CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said on Sunday.
  • Kudrytskyi added power outages could continue to last during at least the summer, autumn and next winter.
