Uniper To Halt Russian Gas Imports By 2024

NATURAL GAS

Uniper plans to stop Russian gas imports by 2024, after the company reported significant losses amid Russian gas supply disruption, Uniper said during its Q3 analyst call.

  • “To minimise risks and to stop the losses occurred amid missing Russian gas deliveries by 2024, we are working toward structurally changing our portfolio”, the company wrote.
  • Uniper aims to secure additional LNG volumes for Germany and Europe and to complete construction of Germany’s first LNG terminal Wilhelmshaven to offset Russian gas imports.
  • Uniper posted a net loss equivalent of $39.3bn in the first nine months of this year.
  • Russian gas deliveries have been significantly curtailed between 14 June and 30 September, forcing the company to buy expensive spot market gas.
