US DATA: Durables +7.3%; Ex-trans +3.3%

New orders of U.S. durable goods rose 7.3% in June, above market

expectations for a 7.0% gain.

May's increase was revised down to 15.1%

from 15.7%.

Transportation orders rose 20% in June following May's 78.9%

increase.

Excluding transportation, new orders were up 3.3%. Motor vehicle new

orders increased 85.7% in June following a 28.8% gain in May, and

shipments rose by 83.1%. Non-defense capital goods new orders were

down 16.4% in June after rising by 26.3% in May. Excluding aircraft,

non-defense capital goods new orders were up 3.3%. Non-defense aircraft

and

parts new orders were down 462.3% in June.
