US Envoy-Russia's Fossil Fuel Revenues May Be Higher Than Before War

Wires carrying comments from the US' Senior Advisor for Energy Security Amos Hochstein stating that the revenue funneled to the Russian gov't from fossil fuel sales may be higher now than they were before the war in Ukraine began due to the increase in global prices.

  • The comments come hours after the Kremlin stated that it did not expect to cut off gas supplies to any more customers in Europe, adding that its system of rouble payments for gas was 'functioning as intended'.
  • Hochstein adds that he believes there is a 'ceiling' on the amount of discounted oil that Russia will be able to sell to India.
