US-Flagged Ships Should Restrict Transit Through Red Sea: Navcent

The US Naval Forces Central Command issued a note calling for US-flagged vessels to restrict transit in the Red Sea following the US strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.

  • “At 2330 UTC on January 10th, coalition forces conducted strikes against targets used by Houthi rebels in Yemen to launch attacks against international shipping lanes and commercial vessels. U.S. Naval Forces Central Command recommends that U.S.-flagged commercial vessels remain North of 18N in the Red Sea or East of 46E in the Gulf of Aden for the next 72 hours,” the note said.
  • The alert expires Jan. 19
