US Service Personnel Injured In Kabul Airport Blast: US Official

Wires and social media reporting that up to three US service personnel have been injured in the blast at Kabul Airport.

  • The ongoing incident is unlikely to result in a reverse of the US decision to leave Afghanistan, and the risk of even more attacks could in fact accelerate the process.
  • Current deadline for all US personnel out of Afghanistan is 31 August, but if there is deemed to be a major risk of more attacks that could result in US casualties, this could be accelerated.
