US-SK Decision To Extend Air Drills 'Risky & Wrong Choice'-KCNA

North Korea's state-run news outlet KCNA reports that the joint US-South Korean decision to extend its aerial exercises around the Korean peninsula is a 'very risky and wrong choice' and that they 'will realise they made an irrevocable mistake'.

  • Comments from the North come after what was seen to be an unsuccessful ICBM test launch earlier today according to South Korea's Yonhap (see 2303, 2354, 0133, and 0345GMT bullets).
  • In response “recent provocations”, the US and South Korea announced that the 'Vigilant Storm' military aerial drills would be extended beyond their original planned end-point on 4 Nov.
  • Tensions on the Korean peninsula remain at multi-year highs as the US and its allies in the region prepare for what is expected to be North Korea's first nuclear test since 2017.
