US To Announce OFZ Sanctions, Blacklistings, Pentagon To Continue Supporting Ukraine

  • US will announce sanctions on Russia as soon as today for alleged election interference and malicious cyber activity, targeting several individuals and entities.
    • 30 entities are expected to be blacklisted, will be tied with orders expelling about 10 Russian officials from the US.
    • United States is also expected to announce aggressive new measures targeting the country's sovereign debt through restrictions on U.S. financial institutions' ability to trade such debt – RTRS
  • Overnight Kremlin Spox said more US sanctions would indicate a discrepancy between words and actions in light of the recent Putin-Biden phone call
    • Meanwhile the Pentagon says it will continue to provide material support to Ukraine based on its needs – including non-combat equipment, weapons as well as military instructors
  • The rise in prices for granulated sugar from April 6 to 12 accelerated to 0.7% from 0.5% w/w, despite freezes on prices being implemented by govt – indicating continued risks to food price inflation
  • 1100BST: Russian & German lawmakers meet to discuss Nord Stream 2, Navalny case and the open skies Treaty
    • Putin also holds an online meeting with State Council Officials and Agency for Strategic initiatives to discuss improvements to public services
