USDCAD Tests Support At 50-Day EMA

CANADA
  • USDCAD is extending its decline with a session low of 1.2863 (-0.3%) despite oil prices coming under pressure from a constructive Iranian reply to the draft nuclear deal.
  • The move lower was kickstarted by surprisingly strong core CPI inflation plus some broader USD weakness since weak US housing starts despite stronger than expected Industrial production.
  • It's still well within yesterday’s wide range but hovers above initial support at the 50-day EMA of 1.2862, with next support much lower at the 200-dma of 1.2748 and a key support at the much lower 1.2728 (Aug 11 low) required to be cleared to meaningfully reinstate a technical bearish threat.
