USDMXN Unchanged Following CPI Data, Economic Activity Awaited

  • Broadly in line inflation data on Monday keeps the backdrop for local assets unchanged and USDMXN continues to loiter around the 18.00 handle. Focus remains on next key support at 17.8981, the Mar 9 low. February economic activity data is due which will provide a warm-up for Q1 GDP figures scheduled on Friday. Data is due at 1300BST/0800ET:
    • Feb. Economic Activity IGAE M/m, est. 0.40%, prior 0.56%; Y/y est. 4.00%, prior 4.43%
  • A reminder that Interior Minister Adan Augusto Lopez will again oversee today’s daily press conference as President AMLO remains ill with Covid-19. Comments from the president have downplayed the severity of symptoms and he is expected to resume his duties later this week.
