driver of global markets in the week ahead. However, for the UK specifically the
final PMIs will be closely watched to see how sentiment has evolved since the
preliminary print. Fiscal news will also be closely watched ahead of the March
11 Budget with new tax/spending plans likely to emerge in the press over the
week.
- There will be two auctions next week, the benchmark 5-year gilt and the
benchmark 10-year linker. The 0.625% Jun-25 gilt will be auctioned for
GBP3.5bln, a slightly larger size than the recent GBP3.25bln auctions of the
issue. All three of the previous auctions have seen bid-to-covers above 2x and
tails of 0.3-0.5bp. GBP1.1bln nominal of the 0.125% Aug-28 linker are on offer.
This will be the fifth and final auction of the issue in this fiscal year with
all other auctions of the issue being fairly strong.
