What to Watch: Focus on OPEC+

ENERGY
  • The latest Genscape European ARA crude inventories will be released today at 09:00BST. European ARA inventories fell back to the bottom of the 5 year range last week to 55.85mbbls.
  • OPEC+ meet today with the JMMC meeting due to start at 13:00 CET followed shortly after by the OPEC+ meeting at 13:30CET. Market expectation is for production targets to be held steady or with just a slight increase. Crude prices and time spreads have fallen since June on lower demand expectations and a slight easing of supply tightness but US are still hoping for a production increase from the group following Biden’s visit to the Middle East last month.
  • EIA will release their weekly oil inventory data at 15:30 this afternoon after the API reported a build in crude stockpiles and small draws in the refined products last night. A confirmation of product draws may add support to crack spreads which have fallen significantly since mid June. Expectation is for the EIA to report a -1.0m draw in gasoline and +0.7m build in distillates.
