What to Watch: US Gas & EU Product Stocks Data

  • The updated Insights European product ARA inventories will be released today. Europe ARA Gasoil stocks were well below normal at 1.659m mt last week, compared to the 5-year average of approximately 2.65m mt. European ARA Gasoline stocks were last week up at 1.31m mt compared to an average of 1.00m mt.
  • The latest EIA weekly gas inventories for the week ending 26th July will be released this afternoon at 15:30BST. Total US stocks are still 10% below the 5-year average as high demand has prevented higher injections over the summer. Expectation is for a build of +94bcf with high production and a dip in demand helping to boost storage injections. Last week saw a build of +77bcf and the 5-year average for this time of year is +88bcf.
  • The BOE policy decision will be announced at 12:00BST. The decision for Bank Rate is expected to be between 50bp and 75bp with markets pricing around 67bp but 20/23 analysts looking for a 50bp hike.
