The White House Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) has released a report looking at the potential economic impact of a various debt ceiling/default scenarios. See this link for more details.

  • The report looks at 3 scenarios - 'brinkmanship' in which negotiations run up to the June 1 deadline, a brief default and a protracted default.
  • The table below outlines the various economic implications under each of these scenarios, with the protracted default obviously driving the largest negative economic impact.
